About Me

I have been birding for 41 years. My favorite clients are those who are interested in birds, watching them and even learning about their behavior, not just checking birds off a life list. I enjoy people and want to have fun while birding. As a bird watcher since 1972, I have acquired a broad knowledge of birds, birdsong, habitat and behavior. One of the things I enjoy most about taking people out birding is teaching my clients how to identify birds and how to recall their song. We were in Asheville, NC for 5 years, and Bisbee, AZ 10 years before that. Currently we are house hunting in New Mexico.

Summer 2014

A lot has been going on this summer for my wife and I. We have relocated to Hereford, Arizona for two years. So I am back in the swing of birding. The High Lonesome Hummingbird Trip just ended and it was a great trip. The group was cohesive and fun. I was fortunate enough to have been provided with a co leader from Texas, Stephan Lorenz who was excellent in assisting me with the group and a pleasure to be around.

We had 11 species of Hummingbirds including several Plain capped Starthroats. A new family of Black capped Gnatcatchers found in Patagonia, were also a highlight of the trip.
Among the group of 9 there were 3 photographers and I expect to receive some great images from some of them shortly.

Since arriving here in Arizona since mid July I have been extremely busy building a chicken pen, moving, helping my wife at her Tucson Audubon Birding Festival booth, and private guiding.
We are settled now and I have lots of trips and private tours set up for the remainder of the year. In fact, my wife and I will be attending the Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival in Texas in early November.  She, to show her artwork and me as a guide. After that I will be guiding at the Bosque del Apache Birding Festival in New Mexico.
I am now available to guide anytime in Southeast Arizona, so if you are planning a trip, do give me a call or send an email.
My new cell number is 520-366-6722.
If you don't get me, as the house we are in has rammed earth walls and the cell reception isn't that great,
call 520-224-5199.
I look forward to hearing from you!
